Male problems

I am trying to help two miniature schnauzers breed and we are on the 12 day of the female's cycle.  Today and on day 10 and 11 the male has tried and has been unsuccessful by creating outside ties.  The female has stood for him on all three days, but he cannot seem to penetrate.  My question is, can he try again today or will he not have a high sperm count?  I am assuming that the outside tie is an indicator of him ejaculating of course.

Hi. You are right, an outside tie is an indicator of him ejaculating. If you can't get an inside tie, stand close when they breed and as soon as he ejaculates, hold them in place for at least 5 minutes. This will simulate a normal tie. I would try again, you want to wait at least 24 hours to let the sperm build back up. Good luck!
