breeding boxers

My dog is in heat has been for a week now. We have another boxer to mate with her. its her 1st time but he has done it before. they are don't really do anything he licks she tries to hump him. She puts her butt in his face. Today I heard her yelp, but didn't see why. she did it twice but when i looked they were playing really aggressively. Both dogs have been tested and are perfectly healthy. IS she ready, or how will i know if they have done anything??? She isn't her normal self. I just don't know what to expect as this is our first time. She is also still really swollen, is there anything i can do to help the process, how long does it usually take?

If it's a week, she's probably still early and your male, being experienced knows this.  

If you aren't doing progesterone testing to see when she ovulates, then a good rule of thumb is day 9 to 15.   Try separating them for a few days to build the excitement.  Keeping them together every day will get them frustrated and they may not want to mate.
