Question
i want to breed my 8 month old female shih tzu when she is two but have been told to wait four seasons. How often will she be "in season"? Is two old enough or should I wait?

Answer
Hi. With small dogs, they tend to come into season earlies, and more often. She should be coming in for the first time soon, if she hasn't already. She may also come in every 6 months. Each dog is different, so it's hard to say for sure. Two years old is plenty old enough for a dog to be bred for the first time.
