Abby
I have a female German Shepherd husky mix female who is 13 months old she had her first heat cycle in the last week of may through the first week of June.  She is showing some signs that she might be pregnant but she never got loose but we did leave her on her runner on nice days while we went grocery shopping.  I am not 100% sure if she is pregnant.  Her nipples are bigger then normal and she has put on some weight if I calculated it right she would be about 51 days along.  Not knowing the exact day makes it harder.  she is also starting to puff out near her ribs more and I can hear her hips or something popping I had my vet check her hips out and they are fine normal. I am just not sure how to be sure if she is pregnant.  I did not even think she was till she started sleeping all the and not playing as much and a few weeks ago she through up a couple of times and that was it.  she is not showing any sign of infection or illness and she is eating good for the most part it has been hot and I have not eaten that much. It just looks like her ribs are sticking out more and I just want to make sure I am prepared I did feel a couple of lumps but now I can't find them.  with out an x-ray is there any way I can tell if she is 100% pregnant?

Answer
Hi Jacqui

By looking at the picture, she still looks pretty tucked up in the back.  A pregnant female would have dropped.

X-rays are the only fool proof way to know for certain.  She could be experiencing a false pregnancy which happens often after a female comes into season.

Good luck.
