Trying to breed

Question
I have two boxers, she is 2 1/2 and he is 3 1/2 this is the first for all of us.  she is in heat. she is throwing her but at him but when he mounts she walks away, he is also having problems with the aim.  I read that a lubricant (non spermicidal)could help make it easier for her but I'm not sure where to find it. any help you can give on the subject will be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Robin. What day of her cycle is she on? If it's too early into her heat, nothing much will happen, that could explain why she's walking away, she's just not ready yet. Most people try on days 11 and 13, or on days 12 and 14 of the cycle. I think that it's not a matter of needing a lubricant, but a combination of maybe being too early, and the male being inexperienced. You can help with the aim. Sit next to where they are trying to breed. Place your hand under the female's belly and guide her to the right place. Most males will quit if you try to touch them, so try with the female first. Trust me, he'll figure it out.:-) Good luck!
