Question
QUESTION: My female is in heat. She is with a male. She will stand and let him mount her, but when he actually makes penetration, she snaps at him. Is it to early, or to late for her to be bred?

ANSWER: Hi Douglas -- what day is she in her heat cycle?

QUESTION: Its been roughly a week

Answer
If you choose not to go with a progesterone test, which will tell you exactly when your female is ready, you can count days.  Typically the 13th to 15th days are prime breeding time, depending of course, if that's when your female ovulates.  So if she's only a week in, it's too early.
