beagle day 20

hi renee,i have brought my female beagle home today she has been at mums for the past 20 days as she has been in season but when we brought her home the male beagle we also have is still trying to mate with her im not sure if this should be still happening he wont laeve her alone she tends to sit down if tries but some times he does succeed we are with them to stop anything happening so because he is still trying we took her back to mums as she is only 11 mths  when should we bring her home regards Linda

Hi Linda. The reason he's still trying is because she's still in heat. It doesn't matter to some boys if she's not in the right time of her cycle to breed. :-) They just get over excited, and try anyway. A heat cycle usually lasts 3 weeks. I'd leave her at your mom's for about another week just to be on the safe side, as some girls ovulate late into their cycle. Good luck!
