Shih Tzu on heat.

Hi. I would just want to ask about my shih tzu on heat. I've noticed the droplets of blood dispersed on our floor, so I immediately checked "cookie" and I found her licking her genitalia. My question is, when is the best day to breed her? She's on her 7th day only. I have heard that it's best to breed her on her 9th day. But when I asked the owner of the stud, he said that cookie's vulva is already soft and she can be bred already. But I didn't pursue with it since I'm confused because I can still see a little bit of droplets of blood on our floor, but the color now is lighter. The stud owner also asked me if I'm sure that it was on Dec. 28 when she had her first day because her genitalia seemed to be soft already not like when the first few days when it's swollen and a bit hard. He also said that there's a  possibility that I didn't notice it earlier because she was keeping herself clean by licking herself so much. Please help. Thank you so much!

It's common for owners of small dogs to miss a females season because they are small and do keep themselves clean.

The best is to bring the male to the female and see if she will stand for him.  Your female will tell you when she's ready to be bred.
