Question
Joyce, first I want to thank you for you help and time, it's much appreciated.
My Weimaraner bitch is in heat for the 3rd time.  Last year, when she was about to deliver, her water brake, but the pups were born dead, three of them.  Two were very big, but the third one was not fully developed. She got infected because the pups died inside her before they were born.  The male dog we used keep on tie -ing her untill  2 weeks before she was supposed to deliver, so I took him away to stay with someone else because his owners were gone visiting. Now she's in heat again, the male dog, come from Germany and he is much more relaxed and gentle. Is there anything you can suggest that I must do or check, because I don't want dead pups again.
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Jas

Before you breed her I would put her on a low dose of antibiotics to ensure she's all clean with no infection or low grade fever.   I would also have the male tested for Brucellois.

A possible reason your female could have lost her previous litter is that male was breeding her up to delivery and gave her an infection.

Good luck
