rat terrier in labor

Question
My 1 and a half year old rat terrier has been in labor for about an hour now or I should say it's been a hour since the first of the litter was delivered dead and very under formed.  the umbilical cord was not attached and the color of the i guess you would call it the sac and fluids was a dark brown looked as if she took a poop with a dead pup in the middle of it.  Sorry for the decription.  should I be worried? she did not get very big during the pregnancy.  Not sure if more pups or not?

Answer
Hi. If the puppy looked under formed, then she probably went into labor too early. It's hard to say if the rest of the pups are alive or not. The best thing I can do is to tell you to get her to the vet to see if there are any more pups left or not. If the pup had been dead for a time, it can set up an infection inside of her. I know it's not much, I'm sorry, but the best I can tell you is to contact your vet. Good luck.
