QUESTION: My 1-yr-old dog is supposed to be an English Bulldog but he looks nothing like a standard English Bulldog. (The breeder also bred Olde English, but said he was an English.) Can you tell what kind he might be? He is my baby boy, so it doesn't matter except that I'm curious and wonder if the breeder was knowingly deceitful.  Thank you!

ANSWER: Hi Beth

It hard to tell without seeing him standing. But without his stats, I would say, it looks like a young Olde English to me.

QUESTION: Thanks for your very quick reply!  Here's more pictures. (Some people think he looks like a boxer, too.)  Is there any way to make breeders accountable in a case like this?

Answer
There were no other pictures attached but depending on your area, you may have recourse, especially if you purchased him for breeding.

I would think you need to have DNA testing done, which is inexpensive, to confirm his breed make-up.  A pure English Bulldog would not have any other Bull breeds (American, Staffy, Pit, etc) in his genetic makeup.

There are a lot of disreputable "breeders" of the back yard kind, research is key when purchasing a pup, regardless of the breed.

Good luck.
