breeding/litter size question

Question
My male was used as a stud and the female had her puppy today (only one). Is there any way to know what impact, if any, my male had on the litter size? This was his first mating (done via collection and shipped chilled semen). Motility was at 90 to 95%. Bitch had one previous litter of 3 at age 4. This is her second breeding at age six. If you need further clarification, let me know!
Thanks!

Kathy

Answer
Kathy,

I cannot answer the question that you have asked me because I am not a reproductive specialist. What breed is this we are talking about? Bulldog? Had your male been previously collected? It might not completely have something to do with the stud dog, it might be an issue with the bitch as she is older there is a chance that she may not be producing as many eggs. I don't think that even with speaking to reproductive specialist you will know if your male had an impact on the litter size. A is not always guaranteed to to get a single puppy is not uncommon. Hope this answers your question.
