My mini schnauzer's water just broke and she is in her whelping box "nesting". How long should I anticipate until labor is over. I know all breeds vary, but what is typically the norm for a mini schnauzer?

There really is no norm for any dog.  Here's a website that'll help. Truthfully you should've researched long before now and prepared a whelping kit as well as having someone who is experienced standing by at least by phone.Better late than never though :) Good luck and I hope your litter is born safely and that they are all healthy pups.
