hi joyce, my english bull terrier is overdue with her pups, she was mated the 31st august and 1st september, and according to my dates she,s  4 to 5 days overdue , she,s been showing signs of nesting , ie gathering blankets, shaking, she went off her food last wednesday and thursday so i thought , get ready she,s going to go into labour, but still no pups her temprature as been between 98.5 to 99.5, this is her 2nd litter and im really concerned, i await your reply, kind regards kim.

That's the thing with humans, no patience. LOL

Actually its 64 days from ovulation.  So let's say according to your calculations the pups should be here around the first of November.  BUT if you female didn't ovulated until the 4th of September, she'd still be right on track. The egg takes approximately 7 days to mature, so when counting, you have to factor in a couple of days either way.

What you can do is give her (and yourself) a bowl of vanilla ice cream.  This will hydrate her, give her calcium to help kick in the labor and give you something to enjoy together.

Now on the downside, if she's visibly straining with no result that IS cause for alarm and I would take her to your vet.
