chihuahua whelping and temp.

My Chihuahua female is pregnant and is due to whelp at any time I first breed her on nov. 3 and she has milk I take her temp. twice a day so that I will know when it is coming but hers will be 98.2-98.4 in the morning then will go up to 99.7-100 of the evening I wonder how will I know for sure.

Hi Jennifer. If her normal temp is 98 in the morning, then it would drop lower to indicate labor. It may only go down to 97. Was she bred at a later time? Just don't let her go past 65 days without seeing a vet. When she starts labor, she should start to pant like crazy, dig, and maybe try to find a place to hide. Has she lost her mucus plug yet?
