Pregnant Schnauzer

 My Miniature Schnauzer is pregnant.  This was not exactly a planned pregnancy, the Jack Russell from down the street dug under our fence!  I saw them "tie on" on August 3rd.  So, from what I have read, she has about another 12 days to go.  I am a little concerned, because she seems so big already, it doesn't seem like she should keep getting bigger for another 12 days.  How big should a miniature schnauzer get, and how much weight should she gain with her pregnancy?

You need to take her in to the vet, and have some x-rays done on her. They'll tell you how may and how big, roughly. It may seem that she will bust if she goes on much longer. If she's carrying a large litter, she may go a day or so early. How big she should get and how much weight she should gain is different from dog to dog. If she was in good condition from the start, not over weight, then she shouldn't be allowed to gain too much weight. You'll know if she's overweight or not, even for a pregnant dog. You should still be able to feel her ribs. My best advice would be to have those x-rays done.
