Question
Unfortunatly I don't have a written contract. Big mistake on my part. The owner of the stud wanted the money for the stud service from the beginning. Now after advertising the puppies she said she wants a puppy. What is the right thing to do? Can she change her mind last minute and expect me to give in?

Answer
Hi Renee

The biggest problem with using and outside stud is the conflict that can arise and the number one reason I don't stud out.

If you don't have a written contract you still have a verbal one.  If the owner wanted the money, stick to the original agreement.

The problem with her now choosing a pup is that if you have other people already committed to purchasing, they should have first pick before her.

In theory you could give her the money and she can pay the amount you are asking for your puppies, with the understanding that she gets a pup in a certain order.  For example if you are keeping a pup you would have first pick. If you have a waiting list or other people committed by placing a cash deposit down prior to her change of heart, they would have a pick before her.

Good luck
