mother corso biting 3 day old puppies

Question
My cane corso had a litter of nine pups that all looked healthy. She is very protective of her pups and this is her third litter. I have witnessed her in the whelping box when the pup tries to nuzzle her face she growls, her upper lip moves and she snaps at the pup. she has now killed three of them.  Is there any reasonable explation for this?  Please help this is very sad.

Answer
There is no explination for this except that she should not be bred again. If you do not watch her she will continue to kill all of the puppies. This doesn't happen very often but when it does, it will happen again in the future. I have Cane Corsi and Great Danes and I have seen it before. 90% of the time that I have seen it, if they bred the birch again she killed the entire next litter of puppies. Watch her and try to correct the behavior, especially the growling and snapping, other them that all you can do is wait. If she continues to kill the puppies I would put them in there to easy and once they are done take her out of the whelping box. Do not let get in unsupervised but make sure that the puppies are warm. Good Luck and don't hesitate to private message me for me contact information.
