Question
Our german shepherd is the last survivor of our long generations of family raised dogs. we really want to breed him but he is very sickly and he has a condition called megaesophagus. what do u reccomend?

Answer
Hi Rosa

Megaesophagus is hereditary and one that as a responsible breeder, you won't want to keep in your lines.

When breeding, regardless of breed, you want to ensure that the lines are clean and healthy and the dogs you are using for reproduction, are the BEST representatives of the breed and will enhance the breed of choice.

I have been a HUGE lover of the GSD since I owned my first one over 25 years ago, and have owned several since, but it's heart breaking to see what most of this once majestic breed has been reduced to.  In my opinion, do the breed and future GSD lovers a favor and don't carry on his lines.

Good luck.
