Question
hi, i have a King Charles, who is due to have her first litter of pups in about 19 days, what size of a litter do they normally produce, i haven't had her x rayed, as i was afraid it might cause harm to the puppies.

Answer
Hi Helen

A female is born with all the eggs she is going to produce.  So it depends on how many eggs her body releases. It could be one, two, or a half a dozen.

X-rays are beneficial and will not cause any harm to the pups.  Bones calcify at 50 days meaning that x-rays won't pick anything up until that time. I would recommend x-rays so you know what to expect.

Good luck
