abnormal bleeding

Hi, I have a 5 yr old American Bulldog that is experiencing some abnormal bleeding, she was in heat a month ago like normal, yesterday she was acting strange and this evening I just noticed a lot of blood coming out eeek- she is panting as well and I'm wondering if it may be birthing a false pregnancy or something, hopefully thats all, (she's whelped one litter - and not been bred since) Thanks

She may be having a split heat. That's where a dog will go into heat, quit, and then pick back up again in a few days, or weeks. Just to be on the safe side, I would most definitely call your vet and let him know what's going on. I'd say without a doubt he'll want to see her. Watch for a foul smelling odor, and a tomato soup like discharge. If you see this, take her to the vet ASAP. If she did have a false pregnancy, she still wouldn't be bleeding. That's why I refered you to your vet.
