Question
Hello Joyce i was just wondering if you can help me.
I have a 2 and a half year old staffordshire bull terrier who is brindle and white. She came into season on the 19/05/09 and we bred her with the stud dog on 30/05/09 and eventually they tiedfor 5-10 minutes. She was very receptive to the male, was flirting with him and even mounted him. However after the tie she started bleeding dark red blood again, is this normal? Also with a tie onf only 5-10 minutes what are the chances of concieving? It would be amazing if you could help thanks charlene

Answer
Hi Charlene

Did you breed her only the once?  Typically if you aren't doing progesterone testing, days 10 - 15 are the receptive days.

It doesn't matter the length of the tie, it matters if the female was ovulating.  So if she was, then chances are great she'll take.
