Question
we have a female boxer and and male English bulldog and would like to breed them, would the boxer be able to have the babies naturally or woulld it have to be c-section would there be problems.

Answer
Hi Marvin. Well, these are two breeds that are known for c-sections. The Bulldog being worse about it then the Boxer. You need to look into your female's dam's whelping history and see if she had any troubles. Some reproduction/whelping problems can be passed on. And, you have to ask yourself if it's a good idea to breed two breeds together that has so many health problems. Each breed has it's own long list of health problems. When you are only breeding one breed, you can atleast tackle those particular problems. When you mix two breeds together, you are working with two different sets of problems that they may pass on down to the puppies. If you decide to do this, then I highly suggest that you do some reasearch and find out what both breeds' defects are, and try to health test for as many of them as possible before breeding. The Boxer is known for serious heart problems, they need to be holter tested, ECHO would be better. They are both known for cleft palate and lip. This is a serious defect, and almost all puppies have to be put down that has it. You really need to know your dogs, and the lines that they come from. You have to know about any defects the line carries. All lines carry something. If both dogs carry the same defect, then the pups will be affected by it. Like I said, if you choose to do this, then I suggest looking into the health problems of both breeds, and testing for them. The lists are long. I'm not trying to talk you out of this, I just want you to know what you're walking in to. If I can be of anymore help, let me know.
