Question
Hi i have 9 healthy 3 and a half week old pups.  They and the mom are doing great and feeding regularly.  I've been reading that this is the time to start introducing milk replacers,  but the mother is still feeding them allot, probably every hour-2 hours.  She is being really good about it and not trying to get away from them even though they have their teeth now.  So do you think i should be giving them a replacer anyway, also I've read about goats milk mixed with warm water, which would you recommend?  thank you

Answer
Hi Kelly. If mom is still taking that good of care of them, then I'd just let her continue on, as long as the puppies are well fed. Let her feed them for another week or so before you introduce any sort of puppy food. If you can get them to 4-5 weeks still nursing from mom, then try to introduce puppy food soaked in puppy formula. Then, when they're about 6 weeks old, switch it to puppy food soaked in water. Go ahead and let mom take care of them for a while longer. Sounds like you have a good momma there! Most of my girls refuse to feed their babies when they get teeth. :-) Good luck!
