Whelping time

My pregnant Doxie mix just had an X-ray yesterday with clearly showed 3 spines (puppies).  When can I expect her to deliver?  I've been told once the x-rays show the puppies (calcified bones) that it will be a week at most.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Hi. You can do x-rays at 50 days or later, normal canine pregnancy is 63 days, but can safely go on day 58. It really depends on what day your girl was on when she was x-rayed. I'd say 8-13 or 14 days. It's really hard to say for sure. She'll lose her mucus plug 24-48 hours before whelping, and a few days before she's ready, her belly may look like a sac of rocks when standing up, her backbone will show. Good luck!
