QuestionQUESTION: Hi, is there a problem with my female Maltese? I kept my male Maltese away while I breed my female with another male. I have been successful in keeping them apart until today. I was not quick enough when I let them out to go potty. What is the end result? Will there be pups from 2 Maltese or one.
ANSWER: Hi Lusanne
No problem with your female, she's just doing what nature intended.
The end result will be pups with one mother and 2 fathers. DNA testing can confirm parentage.
Good luck.

QUESTION: So... that means she could have a pup or puppies from both fathers. The first tie with the first male was on Saturday, Dec. 8th and with the 2nd male today Dec. 12th, would I still count the 64 days from Saturday the 8th for whelping? Thanks so much. Merry Christmas.
AnswerI would split the difference and count the 10th of December as day 1.
It takes 7 days for a eggs to ripen, and sperm can live 5 days. So let's say that your female released her eggs the 8th but, you have to account for those extra days.
Good luck, and a safe and Merry Christmas to you too.
