i have a 5 month old puppy and i want to bread her when she is about 1 1/2 but my sister said it  is bad for a dog to breed i want to no if it will shorten there life.
will it shorten a dogs life to breed them?

Hi. Every time a dog is bred, you have a chance of something going wrong. If the dog is kept in top shape, fed a good quality food, and has great vet care and plenty of exercise, then she has a good chance. When you breed, you have to make sure you can afford vet care for mom and pups, a c-section just in case, and vet care for after whelping. It can be expensive. I would wait until your girl is 2 years old before breeding. This will let her finish growing. It doesn't necessarily shorten a dog's life span, but like I said, it does have it's dangers.
