Hi, i would like to know when the best time would be to mate my jack russell. She is in season at the moment(day one).I have a stud ready so what day would be best.I also have a golden lab would she be ok around my jr when she has her pups.many thanks wendy

Hi Wendy,

If you are not going to test her progesterone levels then you could try on the 13th and 15th days.  It really depends on when she ovulates.

I doubt your JR would appreciate another "hen in the hen house".  It best to have a whelping box in a quiet area where the Momma can whelp and nurse her litter without interruption.  I would suggest keeping them separate for the at least the first 6 weeks.
