Hi. Since your breed is known for needing c-sections, I would have an x-ray done after day 50 to see if there are any pups that are really big, or may cause problems. Then, I would talk to your vet and tell him you want to let her try to whelp on her own first. Make sure you have an emergency number to get hold of him if you need to. As for how long to let her try, it depends. If she does well, then I would let her continue. If she has contractions for 15 minutes without producing a puppy, then I would get her to the vet. You'll just have to watch her closely and call the vet at the first sign of distress. Good luck!
