Question
We have a toy poodle who we bred at the beginning of April.  On Friday (at  about 31 days pregnant).  She was attacked by a pit bull. She has a puncture wound on her head.  She has been yelping a lot since then especially if she's laying with one of us and we move.  She doesn't seem to be laying down as often as she used to.  Saturday evening after urinating in the yard, she leaked out more urine after she came back in the house.  She doesn't usually do that.  Could that be a side effect of the pregnancy?  Is 33 days pregnant enough to make her feel uncomfortable or do you think she's still in pain from the attack?  She has an appointment at the vet tomorrow but I have been worrying for 2 days. She seems to be able to walk fine, she's jumping up on the beds/couches, and eating normally she's just not as lovey and she seems uncomfortable.  This morning she was shivering for about 3 minutes.  Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Aimee

Sorry to hear about your girl.  The mental trauma and the severity of the attack would be enough for the female to lose the entire litter.

The vet is best able to direct you in this case.  She needs to be examined and evaluated.

Good luck.
