neutered male & breeding

One of my neutered males just breed my female pup in her 1st heat. Tied for about 5 min. I've been in dogs for many years & have never heard of this. Common? Yes, she will be spayed.

Hi Susan. It can be common. Especially if the male wasn't neutered until after he reached sexual maturity, or until after he had been bred. Some boys retain the urge to breed. I've seen many males still try to mount and breed after they have been neutered. Some may still hike their legs. (P.S. I'm sorry that I haven't gotten back to your before this. There has to be some kind of glitch with the website, as I never received your question until this morning when the web site sent me a reminder e-mail. I truly apologize. I'm not for sure what happened, as this has never happened before.)
