Question
My "pit bull" is 9 months and is in her first heat.  She is very clingy and rubbing herself on the grass.  Is this normal behavior and is there anything I can do to relieve her discomfort.  Also, how long will her heavy bleeding last, my couches can't take much more.  Thank you

Answer
Hi Delaney

Typically bleeding last 7 to 10 days.  BUT the following 2 weeks after is when she's prime for breeding and should be watched or confined 24 hours.

You can purchase "doggy panties" or children's pull-ups that will catch the blood and discharge.

Good luck.
