long stage 1 labor

My dog has been in stage 1 labor now for 3 days. I took her to the vet. She said she looked ok on day 2. Her temp dropped during those times. Steady at 100 now. Dog lost her mucos plug about 36 hrs ago, she is still going in and out of stage 1. Vet wants to do c section... but this vet sometimes likes to do un-neccessary procedures. My dog did have a pelvis fracture 2yrs ago so I am a bit worried.She has stopped panting and is very tired. No strong contractions yet. I dont know what I should do? She is a border collie australian shepherd mix, bred to an australian shepherd. The c section is going to cost up to 1300.00

Hi. In this situation, it sounds like your girl is worn out and a section might be the bes tthing for her. Tazke her to a different vet for a second opinion if you want to, but my thoughts are the other vet will agree, it's time to step in and help. You said your girl has had a pelvic injury in the past, this may cause her trouble with whelping. I know sections are expensive, but this is a chance that we take anytime that we breed a dog, we just have to suck it up and do what's best for our dog. Get a second opinion if you want, but do it fast. Dogs can and do die during whelping, so you need to act fast. Good luck, and please let me know how it goes.
