They said that icreasing the number of tie can increase the litter size...If we are trying to go for a larger litter size Only because she is 17pounds trying to make less stress how often should we let male and female tie? Should I leave her at the studs home untill she stops being receptive?? Thank you for all your help in ther past. If we are driving how often should we meet? The stud lives 2 hours away..  Thank you

ANSWER: Hi Ester

Trust me on this one, that's an old wives tale.

If a female releases 8 eggs, that is all that is going to be fertilized. Whether she is breed once or a hundred times.

A female is born with all the eggs she is ever going to produce. You can make these things up.  What you CAN do, is ensure that she is bred just before she ovulates.

If you are comfortable with leaving your female, you should.  Progesterone tests will help determine whether she ovulates early or late in her cycle.  But if you can't do them, leaving the female to be bred, will help getting it close or on the day of ovulation.

Good luck.

QUESTION: Thank you. Its weird but they told me that myth on this site... But should I have them separated them at times or should we like that do it as much as they want. Whats the healthy count??? Thank you for your help.

Answer
You should seperate them because a) it hard on the male and b) after breeding, a female should sit (preferably in a crate) so that she doesn't pee and flush out any viable semen.

It's safe to breed them once a day for the days that the female will stand.
