hi there, my miniature dachsund bitch was mated two weeks ago and has become very quiet and off her food and seems to be losing a little weight. is this normal?

Hi. It's normal for a newly pregnant dog to act this way. She should perk up soon. I'm not sure if prometra is common in your breed or not, but you'll want to watch out for it just in case. The signs are: the dog will drink a ton, she'll become listless, depressed. In a closed pyro, you won't see a discharge, but the belly may be swollen and painful. In the open pyro, you'll see a tomato soup like discharge. If you notice any of these signs, get her to the vet fast. Good luck, and let me know if I can help with anything else.
