28 ultrasound negative

We bred our 3+ virgin Vizsla bitch to proven stud, naturally, 5x over week period. Began day #11-18. Ultrasound @ day 28 after first breeding. Vet saw no pups. Could it still be early? both sire and dam are strong healthy animals & checked out great prior to breeding including - bruc. test.

Hi Carole. It could be too early. You have 5 different due dates, if all the breedings took place on a different day. She may not have taken until on one of the last breedings, which would make it too early to tell yet. I would wait a few more days, and have an experienced person palpate for them, or you could try that now. I personally prefer the x-rays done after day 50. With dogs, anything is possible, and she may not have taken. It happens for no obvious reasons sometimes. It's enough to drive you mad.:-) I'd wait her out though, she very well may be pregnant.
