Question
How long should mom Pug sleep with puppies in cage ?

Answer
Hi Alberta

Sleeping in a cage is never a good idea.  They should be in a whelping box.    In a cage there is too great a risk of a pup suffocating pinned between the dam and the cage walls.  I would hope they are not in a cage now.

In a whelping box, the dam can come and go as she pleases.  She can go in to nurse and step out when she needs a break.   A female should be with her pups steady for at least 4 weeks. Then you can start being left for longer and longer with only shorts feeding visits from the dam.
