Hi,
 I breed my female yorkie and I think she is due around the 07-27-07 give or take a few days, anyhow shes's about 31/2lbs. and the father is alittle over 4 or so. Do you think that she will have a problem delivering the litter because he is bigger and about how many pups do they have on a average?

Hi Dave

Any female can have issues when whelping, however I think you should be okay.  Make sure she is not overfed and keep giving her light exercise (walking) up until the day she delivers.  This will ensure she stays fit and her muscle toned.

The number of pups depends on timing, sperm count, ovulation...and sometimes I think, how the stars are aligned.  She can have anywhere from 1 - 4 pups.
