Question
My dog had a sac come out over 3 hrs ago and when she cleaned the sac there was no baby.  She has had labor contractions and such for over an hour and still no baby but there is the clear discharge coming out recently.  One of her contractions made her cry really loud but now the contractions are coming and going again and she isn't crying with these.
Should I be worried right now or are we still in a timely area and still safe for her and her birthing session or should I call a cab and run to emergancy?

Answer
Hi Lynette

Occasionally a female will expel a water sac.  Not to worry.

Dogs whelp differently than humans.  They do more panting and less pushing.

Take her for short walks to get things moving.  Vanilla ice cream will help with contractions and bring her milk in.

If she's in obvious distress you may want to call that cab.

Good luck.
