Female Rottie wont accept any males

Question
Hi Joyce,

I had asked the question about my pregnant female rottweiler a few weeks ago. Update, she has had 8 Very Healthy pups!!

Now, I also have a 2 1/2 year old female rottie that had her first heat at 10 mos, then every 4-6 months after that. I have had her tested for infections, etc and she has come back normal. I have had a CBC done on her and full panel to see if she has hypothyroidism or something. All bloodwork is normal. She has never allowed my male or another male we found for her to breed with, to even mount her.She gets aggressive towards the male if he tries. Any ideas as to her problem? Other than this heat cycle irregularity, she is perfectly healthy and happy. Her coat is nice and shiny, we feed her Nutro Lamb & Rice and she is on a daily vitamin called NuVet Plus. Her parents come from champion blood. Please let me know your ideas. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Sandi -- sounds like she's a dominate female.  You may have to consider A.I. Some females won't allow a male to mount them at any cost.

Another thought -- We had a female years ago that had 80% male hormones in her body, and she didn't ovulate properly.  She was a great dog.  Just couldn't produce a litter.

Good luck.
