Breeding my female schnauzer

Question
My female schnauzer has been heat for about two weeks, she stopped bleeding about three days ago, but everytime the male goes to mount her, she will bite him and pull away.  I heard she would not breed until she stopped bleeding.  She still pulls her tail to the side and lets him lick her but will not let him mount her.  Is it too late.  It is the first time for both and they are both over two years old.

Thanks Jeri

Answer
Hi Jeri

Some alpha females have "issues" with having a male mount them.  Also if it's her first mating and her hymen is intact or she is tight, it may be painful for her.  You can test that by inserting your finger and judging how pliable she is.  Too tight and AI and a c-section may be in order.

You may have to hold her and let the male do his thing. The easiest and safest way is to straddle her over your legs while you're sitting on the floor.   Hold her head steady by hanging onto her collar.  In that position you can also help guide the male if he require it.

Good luck
