Question
I bred my 1 yo american bulldog to a kennels stud , the agreement was verbal and the stud owner wanted a pick of the litter in place of a stud fee,the breeding however did not take and she is not pregnant. Now the stud owner is demanding I pay her a stud fee? If there were no puppies am I still obligated to pay for a stud fee?

Answer
Hi Jessica

It's important to check with your local laws however that being said.  What stud service?  Your female didn't take so services weren't rendered.

A experienced and reputable stud owner would be aware of this possibility occurring.   Most stud fees allow for a female not taking, and typically give the next breeding free.

In my opinion, this is a red flag to stay away from this kennel and find a more reputable breeder.

Good luck
