What is the appropriate age to breed GSD's.  I have a 1 1/2 year old female and I male that is fixing to turn 8 months in a couple of weeks and she is in heat.  Can I bread them or is it too early for him?

Answer
It's possible for him to breed so early but I wouldn't advise it. At this early age you don't really know what he's going to be like, in temperament,conformation, and especially not with genetic health issues. You can't even get a good prelim done on his hips this early. You don't want to end up with an entire litter of pups that present their owners with HD or another genetic problem. Wait until he's old enough that you know what he is, and possibly will produce before breeding him.
