Question
My lab 5year old had full term pups, 6 where deleiverd and droped every where, the last one i was around her and she had a hard time having these pups i beleive they where all dead when they came out because the cord was wraped around the last one and i had to help her out with having the last one, and she was pretty weak,i even had to cut the cord that was holding the pup in because it was coming out back tail and feet first, this pup was dead when trying to deliver, the discharge was green and black, and was just terrible,Its the next morning and she got up to meet me seemed to be doing well but still tired of course,i feel so bad for her,it turned cold when she started having these pups could they be carried full term and all 6 be born dead, i just think its weird not even one made it.Just wanted your opinon on this,This was her first litter at 5 years old she really did not act that interested in the pups at all. Thanks Tony.

Answer
Hi Tony

A responsible breeder would have a whelping box or enclosed area for a female to safely deliver her pups.

If you weren't there for the pups when they were whelped are you confident that the placenta's and afterbirth were discharged?  And you can't say for certain they were stillborn.

Black/greenish discharge is a sign of toxicity. Unless you do an autopsy on the bodies you won't know for certain why you lost the entire litter, but if I would have to hazard a guess, I would say stupidity was the major factor.
