low libido in male bullterrier

Question

Maa (white dog) and Wh
My 4 and a half year old male bullterrier has had a successful mating before, about two years ago and althou only a slip mating, he successfully sired 4 healthy pups. He is our family pet as well as the foundation dog for my Kennel which I have established. He lives with his dog mother as well. During her seasons when she has not been mated he has learnt not to allow his natural instincts to take over and is very circumspect around her. They are kept separate at this time. I have a bitch which I want to mate him too and I am concerned that his libido has been put on low, because of the circmstances of his upbringing. Are there any herbal remedies and/ or other things that I could do to improve the chances of a successful mating. A is a beautiful speciman of his breed and his lines a very good - I want to make sure that I keep that line open. I wold appreciate any help you can give me.
Yors sincerely Mandy Irwin

Answer
Hi Mandy

Our males learn their "manners" early and will not mate a female without permission from my husband (strange but true).  But when it's their "turn at the bat", they are eager and ready.

When the female is ready, house them next to each other.  He can catch her scent but not her.  This builds the excitement and frustration.  When it comes time mate, he'll be ready.

Because everything is out to get sperm, it's not advisable to give him anything prior to breeding, that includes vitamins and oils.

Good luck
