my dog was mated and tied on several occasions over a week i was under the impression i counted from day 1 of the mating. She has done todays in this case today she is in no distress losing no green discharge i have taken her to the vet to be told bring her back daily for scans which i cannot afford . she is running around eating and being her usual self she is in no distress they said there was distress in side her the pups are active but they keep asking me to have a c section because i am unsure of dates i cannot afford this and she gave birth normaly 2 yrs ago.

Gestation is 64 days from the time the egg was fertilized NOT necessarily for the day of breeding.

Because the egg takes 7 days to mature and sperm can live 72 hours there is a "grace" period. Also breeding over the course of a week adds extra days.

If the vet is suggesting a section I would seriously take this into consideration, especially if they notice something on the scan.   The alternative is to lose the entire litter and the dam.
