Hi Joyce, I've got a 1 year old jack Russell bitch, who had her first season last year, i cant remember exactly when though.. how far apart do bitches usually have their seasons? and when is the best time to mate her, we only want her to have one litter of pups before she is spade. x

Heat cycles typically rotate on cycle (6, 9, 12) month cycle.  So if she came in at 6 months, she will come in again at 1, (9 - 18 / 12 - 24).

The best time to breed a female is when she's is at her mental and physical peak.  For some females that's at her second heat, for others her third).  You would be the best judge of that as you live with her and know her best.
