Questionhi, i have two boxer dogs a male and female that are always in each others company, the female is two and is currently at the start of here cycle, the male is only one and is not paying that much attention to the her. i am wondering should we seperate them for a night or do you think when the right day come that there are still high chances of a mating happening (as they are more like best friends now.)
AnswerHi Sarah
The best thing to peak the males interest is to keep them separated entirely for the next 10 days. Don't let them have any contact.
Then bring them together for only 15 - 20 minutes at a time at about day 10. The excitement may encourage a breeding. It's a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Good luck.
