mucus plug

Hi, we have a great dane who was mated (there was no tie) 4 weeks ago, we noticed that she had discharge about 2 weeks later (lasted about 48 hours on and off) could this have been the mucus plug forming?

HI Karla. No. This was either the end of her heat cycle, or something else was going on. A dog won't have a discharge because of the mucus plug. If she has anymore colored discharge before the birth of the first puppy, if she is in fact pregnant, then take her to the vet immediately.
