Question
Hi Renee, I am wondering Renee if it is worthwhile taking my frenchie for a scan as it is now 42 days since having been bred but showing no physical signs of pregnancy and now looks that her vulva is now back to its original size, but my mentor who has bred for 25 yrs felt positive about her 3 matings. Feeling very disheartened now don,t know what could of gone wrong. Teats remain the same and no swelling to her abdomen. Thank you Renee for giving me your time sorry to be a nuisance. Janice

Answer
Hi Janice. You're most definitely not a nuisance. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Because your breed is known for sections, I would do the x-ray just to be on the safe side. She may only have one in there, 42 days is a bit early. Some girls don't start to show until later into the pregnancy, some don't show at all. As for what could have gone wrong, there are many different things that can happen during a breeding. If she didn't take, and the breeder was absolutely sure about the days, then you may want to take her in for a check up to make sure everything is ok. Also, with her next cycle, you may want to consider progesterone testing. This will help you determin the exact day of ovulation, or close to it anyway. Don't get discouraged yet.:-)Wait until she's 50 days in, and do an x-ray. Good luck!
